Home Sweet... wait where is it?

Have I ever told you my husband is in the Navy? This picture is from my husband's last homecoming. My friend Kim and I were discussing a myrad of things the Navy has changed about us (as individuals of course). She generally makes me think a lot.

But perhaps what stuck with me the most is that being forced into situations has never really been a part of me. I met and promised to marry my husband long before the Navy, I will be here long after the Navy. The latest thing I'm being forced into is the next PCS. Yes, another state, another home, another place. It's all very exhausting after a while you know what I mean?

The packing, the unpacking, the only fun thing is the decorating.

I feel like I'm living on borrowed time a lot. Like my husband and I are visiting each other in between really long, exhausting, and extended work days. We have lived in our current home for a number of years... He still does not know where the glasses are located.

I married my husband when I was 20. I find it strange that (almost) 4 years later, that's 3 different states, 3 different homes, 2 different cars, 2 cell phone numbers later, it just doesn't seem real to me. Like one day I'm going to wake up and the Navy isn't going to be there and this will all be a very strange, highly detailed dream.

Maybe i'm just having some anxiety over this move. You know making a new place a home takes so much effort. I'm kind of tired of making temporary homes. I'd like to have a permanent home one day.

  1. I didn't know that you're moving again! Where to this time, gurl?

  2. Feeling like you haven't got any control is the worst part... at least for me it is. Trying to eke out my existence next to this big monster of a thing is... challenging.

  3. Aw, you make me think, too. *hugs*

I know the dream feeling. I keep thinking that I'm going to wake up and still be in college waiting for graduation and to move to St. Louis with him and that these past 3.5 years aren't real. The military life is very surreal.

You will be fine with the moving. Your new place looks awesome, plus yay for decorating!
